I recently purchased the Trimukhi Mrudangam from Vid.Akshay Ram , an excellent musician himself who is the brain behind designing this unique mrudangam. The Trimukhi has been particularly useful for me in my travels when I have had to play multiple concerts in different shruthis. What I really liked about it is that it doesn't affect the tonal quality of the Instrument in any way and makes it a lot easier to handle than the traditional setup. Kudos to Akshay for this Invention and I recommend all percussionists to give this a try.

Vanakkam, My name is Ashley Kisten from South Africa.I have had the privilege of attending a concert performed by the great vidwan Akshay Ram on mridhangum.He has mesmerized the South African audiences with his brilliant accompaniment leaving us wanting more.He also captivated us with Complicated theermanums and Korvais not forgetting his calculations.His Thani kept music lovers on the edge of their seats with his speed variations and different techniques whilst playing a complicated thaalam.This has been an humbling experience with this great artists and hoping we have another dose of this spectacular yet humble artist.

Akshay Ram is known to me for over 2 decades and he is indeed a child prodigy. Even from his early days I was impressed with his outstanding talent. As a mridangm vidwan i certainly feel that he is a gifted artist who is so Compact in his playing with clear dexterity. We had honoured him in our Puvanur Legacy trust recognising his talent. His recent innovation of Trimuki is an added feather to his cap. I had seen his website and I would like to wish him good luck in all his future endeavours and have a great music career.

Hello everyone I would like to share my experience about two Trimukhi mridangams(Infact mine is Panchamukhi and Trimukhi) I got done in last one year. I got it made by a versatile mridangam artist and also a unique thinker about the instrument itself Vidwan Akshay Ram. It was built manually by Mr Appu and his team. Kudos to the entire unit. Trimukhi mridangam is a game changer when we look into these aspects. First of all even if I carry 3 right heads the whole weight will be around 20 kilos and easily it can fit in one suitcase which makes the life of a mridangam artiste traveller extremely easy. Also the tonal quality is uncompromised which makes it even better as tonal quality comes first. Also the changing of heads is extremely easy and it takes less than 30 seconds for me to do so. So when there are different pitches every song before the announcement is done I would have changed the right head of mridangam and it is ready. Also the left stays same throughout the concert and it is superb as we don’t get different tonal qualities for the amplification which makes the sound engineer’s life music easier. Last but not least, if there are some small issues after we get it, the team is always ready to help us and customise accordingly to our requirements (-: Bottom line about this is GO FOR IT YOU WONT REGRET.

Any discourse on the greatness of the man's music in the sphere of world music is akin to carrying coal to Newcastle. Akshay Ram is one of the innumerable disciples of the doyen, Umayalpuram Sivaraman and a worthy one at that. His solid foundation in the aesthetics of music and discerning accompaniment for krithis are noteworthy, very becoming of his tradition. He explores the rhythmic possibilities, naturally, with abandon, while being perfectly in sync, every moment, with the thought process of the musician he accompanies. The aforesaid quality is the hallmark of a highly evolved artiste, that which proclaims his illustrious Guru as a true master among legends. Akshay has a long fruitful journey in music and has all the blessings of his Guru.
